Over 80 years ago, the first delicate grapevine was planted in a West Auckland field. That grapevine grew into the family winery that is still standing today. In fact, very few wineries in New Zealand can claim to have a prouder wine making heritage than at Soljans, the third oldest winery in New Zealand that is still owned and operated by the original family. Chapter Two begins in 1937. Bartul’s eldest son, Frank, was eager to own his own winery, so in 1937 he purchased a property also in Lincoln Road, Henderson, and Soljans Wines was born. Along with his wife Rona and family, he began to build up his new business. As the 1970s came along, it became time for Frank to pass the reigns of the company down to his son Tony. He and his brother Rex joined the family winery after leaving school. Taking on the wine making responsibility from his father, Tony brought Soljans’ wine onto New Zealand’s dinner tables. Following family tradition, we currently have three generations involved here at Soljans, Tony Soljan and his wife Colleen, their daughters Tonia and Lisa Soljan, along with Tonia’s children Tyler and Amber Soljans.

Established in the 30s of the 20th century by the great grandparents Lorenzo and Argentina as farming business, in the postwar period one of their three sons, more precisely Pierino, dedicated himself with many efforts and hope to grape cultivation. In the 70s of the 20th century his sons Lorenzo and Giuseppe succeeded him and developed the farm business in a pure wine company, through increasing of the production and began making wine with oversupply of grapes which remained unsold. Nowadays Luca, the son of the oldest brother Lorenzo, relieved the company and together with the uncle Giuseppe them take care of the whole wine production and look at a wider and different market that can discover and appreciate the quality of these excellent vine varieties and the wines that come from it. Fratelli Aimasso winery located in the town of Diano d’Alba, small town of the Langhe with about 3000 inhabitants. The company has been restructured lately in order to allow the meticulous and strict control quality at every stage of the winemaking process. All wines are made exclusively from the grapes produced on 8 hectares of the company vineyards.
